The Buz Page
I have been kidding Buz about posting something on his blog page, but, as you would expect, he has more important things to do on his list (like finding his phone). Milestat.com has selected Buz as the #7 XC coach in Virginia, in their top ten countdown. The interview in its entirety has been posted on "The Buz Page". So, until Buz has the opportunity to write something else, it will have to do. It offers insight on why the athletes under Buz's guidance love the man, will do anything for him, and are so successful - not only in competition, but in life.

Reminder About Shoes
A good pair of running shoes, or trainers, should last about 300 miles. The "A" group has exceeded that mileage in practice, and "B" & "C" groups should be nearing that milestone in the coming weeks. The trainers are essential equipment for the athlete, and a key to injury prevention. Check your logs, check your shoes, and get a new pair, if needed, during the "off" weekend.
From the Dummies page:
From the Dummies page:
Runners can use a torn t-shirt and a pair of old shorts, but must have a good pair of running shoes. A runner’s shoes are critical to an injury free season. Running shoes should be replaced about every 300 miles. Although the uppers appear good, a shoe with more than 300 miles are often worn on the bottom. Your son or daughter should try to keep a log of their running, so have them note the date of a new shoe purchase in their log. Although we check the shoes of our athletes on a regular basis, with 100 plus members on our team, we can still miss worn shoes on an athlete until they complain of leg pain. Please monitor your child’s shoes with us. Shoes should be bought at a store that deals primarily with running footwear and apparel. These stores typically have runners on staff and can recommend a shoe that will be good for the shape of your child’s foot. The life of running shoes can be extended by using them for running only.

New Design for 2011 Spiritwear
Debbie McPhillips has extended the ordering date for AHS XC Spiritwear to Wednesday, 9/21.
Below is the design that will be on the "spirit wear" shirts and sweatshirts (hoodies and crew neck), as well as the drawstring cinch sacks and in a smaller version on the sweatpants. Debbie thought maybe some people who had the old design would like to see the new design and perhaps order one. Pricing is as listed on the sheet -- and she will definitely accept late orders for these items if they get them to Debbie (email is fine!) by Wednesday.
