Buz has always told the boys that his long range goal to to build a sustainable championship program, not just produce a team every couple years that might get to the podium at Great Meadows. The underclassmen took that to heart, and won the 2 mile Sabre Division race. Led by freshman Zach Gentry (5th) and sophmore Camron Hatchett (7th), the Albemarle JV scored 78 points, beating second place Western Albemarle by 28 points. Also scoring were Jeffery Leckrone (21st), Michael Nasevich (23rd) and Gus Truslow (25th). Rounding out the top seven were Johnny Murray (27th) and Thomas Densmore (33rd). Johnny and Thomas finished ahead of scoring runners from the next several teams, adding to the margins of victory. Like their varsity teammates, the JV showed they have the ability to be champions. In the first two meets of the season, the Albemarle boys have run in five divisional races, winning four out of the five. Somewhere in Crozet, with a cup of coffee in his hand, Buz is smiling.
